President Trump repeatedly urged the Ukrainian president to investigate Joe Biden, one of his chief political rivals

Trump Pushed Ukraine for Biden Inquiry

by -

An explosive report published by the New York Times showed that US President Donald Trump pushed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

While Donald Trump shared in a news conference that he simply shared diplomatic information, a memo published by the White House confirmed that the US President tried to use his current role to push Zelensky to find elements against Joe Biden, his potential main opponent to his own reelection in 2020.

As elements are leaking day by day, Nancy Pelosi, the head of the Democratic Party at the House of Representatives said that she asked for an inquiry over impeachment.

In the meantime, Donald Trump called the whistleblower a “spy” and said that there would be some “retaliation”.

What was said during the call?

On July 25th, the U.S president Donald Trump called the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, to ask him to help him on an investigation against Joe Biden.

According to the memo which as published by the White House, Volodymyr Zelensky was hoping for the call to be about missiles based in Crimea. “We are ready to continue to cooperate for the next steps specifically we are almost ready to buy more Javelins [anti-tank missiles] from the United States for defense purposes.”, he said, during the call.

As an answer, the U.S President replied: “I would like you to do us a favor though because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a lot about it.”. He then added “The other thing, there’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it… It sounds horrible to me.”

The release of this memo had the effect of a political tsunami in the White House.

How did U.S politics react?

While the Democratic party has been waiting for two years and a half to file an impeachment case, it seems that the memo might be a U-turn in Trump’s term.

A few days after a whistleblower leaked the information, the Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, has started an inquiry for impeachment against Donald Trump as there might be enough elements for him to be discharged.

Republicans are also starting to join Pelosi’s endeavor. As the Guardian confirmed, Phil Scott, the Republican governor of Vermont “and a frequent Trump critic, has become the first chief executive of his party to announce support for House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry against the president.”.

Whistleblower is a CIA agent

Last but not least: the New York Times just revealed that the whistleblower is a CIA agent – more precisely, a trained analyst – who was hired to work at the White House.

U.S media have immediately reacted to the announcement, that could shake the entire 2020 elections calendar is the U.S President happen to be impeached.

So far in the U.S history, only two presidents were impeached: Bill Clinton and Andrew Johnson. However, none were removed from the Office until the end of their term.
