Chief Jens Weidmann and ECB member Bundesbank will be speaking later today. They will speak at the annual meeting of the Central Bank Research Association in Frankfurt. Weidmann speech will focus on "The relationship between monetary and macroprudential policies.

The Week that was


Last week concerns about the Turkeys Lira future became true. The US and Turkey crisis escalated and hurt the Turkish economy. It proves contagious to emerging markets creating a small domino effect and hit currencies like Indian rube. The fall somehow stopped after Qatar's pledge of $15 billion. US-China Trade Talks Resume and the Brexit no deal seems more real now.

Main Focus This Week


The U.S. and China are meeting later this week in Washington to talk about their ongoing trade war, according to Alex Capri we should not expect any "grand bargain" from the talks. The markets are watching the anticipate trade talks that aim to resolve the escalating tariff war between the world's two largest economies.Most important stats regarding USD for this week include the July existing home sales figures coming out on Wednesday, the new home sales, and August prelim private sector PMI numbers coming out on Thursday and July durable goods orders on Friday. FOMC meeting minutes out on Wednesday and Jackson Hole Speeches on Friday. For the EUR, and pound it’s a relatively quiet week ahead.
